Norbert Sedlacek's Ant-Arctic-Lab project is a world record attempt to circumnavigate the globe single-handedly via the two poles, without stops and without outside assistance. What is more, Norbert Sedlacek is building the boat for this round-the-world solo sail himself. Named OpenAAL60, the prototype consists of volcanic fiber balsa end grain wood. This is a sustainable and recyclable special mixture that is non-hazardous to human health, biologically harmless and has also been certified.
Selecting the right materials for this round-the-world venture has entailed various challenges for the skipper. Not only must the boat itself be up to such a quest, but also the cordage must satisfy extremely high criteria in terms of service life and be able to withstand a variety of climatic conditions with temperatures from -40 °C to +40 °C. Also the sail areas of the boat – 170 m² (mainsail), 200 m² (spinnaker), and 400 m2 (large spinnaker) – must remain maneuverable in all wind conditions, from zero wind to storm force winds.
FSE Robline stands for innovative high-quality yachting ropes developed for pros by pros. Given our long standing experience and expertise in this segment, our yachting cordage is the right choice for Norbert Sedlacek's boat. Obviously, we are delighted that he opted in favor of our yachting ropes. Together with him, we will develop special ropes that meet his needs for this world record attempt.
